Reverend Dr. Leotis S. Belk has been a member of First Baptist Church since 1993, joining under the pastorate of Reverend Nathaniel O. Boykins, who formerly accepted Christ under Dr. Belk's ministry.

Dr. Belk received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Queens College, N. Y. in Linguistics, his Master of Divinity from Virginia Union University, he also received a Master of Arts from the Universidad de San Carlo in Guatemula and a Ph.D. from Temple University on a Ford Fellowship.

Dr. Belk's professional experiences include: teaching languages at J. C. Smith University, Bishop College, elementary and High schools in Niagara and Buffalo counties in New York State; East Carolina and now at Campbell University. He held the chair of Philosophical Theology at Colgate/Rochester Divinity School and taught Religion at the University of Buffalo, the University of Rochester, and coordinated the Department of Religion and Philosophy at both Shaw University and St. Augustine College. He has lectured at various colleges and churches in the U. S. and the Universities of Ife, Ibadan and Ghana in Africa. In coordination with the Ministerial Conferences, he founded the Buffalo Baptist Bible School, of which he became Dean. He has pastored four churches: Gethesemane Baptist in Chester, S. C., St. Paul Baptist, Gastonia, N. C., Second Baptist, LeRoy, N. Y., and New Hope Baptist, Niagara Falls, N. Y. He has preached in Africa, sung in Korea, and preached in Spanish in Guatemala.

Some of his honors are; invited by the Republic of Zambia to the United Nations to participate in a church strategy conference against apartheid. He is listed in many international directories, including Men of Achievement in the World, 7th Edition; Who's Who in Religion, Directory of American Scholars, 3rd Edition. Among other publications is the inclusion of a sermon in the first edition of Outstanding Black Sermons.

Dr. Belk is the son of Deacon Samuel (deceased) and Mable Belk, and the godson of Mrs. Willie M. Prescod. He is the father of one daughter, Shayila, the godfather of Michelle, Mario, Johnnie, Derrick, Brian, Tony, and Shelton and mentor to a host of his former ministerial students.
